Combine Acoustic Imaging and Thermal Imaging in One Tool
The Mini3R is a thermal camera module by HIKMICRO, designed especially to pair with their acoustic imaging equipment (for example, to detect partial discharge and such), combining thermal imaging + acoustic imaging.
High temp range: Up to 650 °C allows use in industrial inspections, electrical equipment, motors, etc.Â
Good resolution & sensitivity: 384×288 with ~35 mK NETD gives reasonably detailed thermal images.Â
Acoustic imaging integration: Intended to work with HIKMICRO’s acoustic imaging cameras/modules, which is useful for detecting issues like partial discharge plus overheating simultaneously.Â
Adjustable insertion direction & rotatable lens: Flexibility for hard-to-reach or awkward spaces.
Size & weight: Compared to small handheld clip-on smartphone modules, this is larger / heavier. It’s more of a module or tool rather than pocket-friendly.Â
Power draw: 550 mW is nontrivial; since it’s powered via USB-C, device requirements matter. If used with battery powered/acoustic devices, ensure your power budget can handle it.Â
Frame rate: Fixed 25 Hz, which is fine for many applications, but not extremely high speed.Â
Environmental robustness: It has IP54, drop resistance to 1 m. That’s good but not extreme (doesn’t make it fully rugged for harsh outdoors or industrial abuse scenarios).
Cost: Modules like this, especially with acoustic + thermal integration, tend to be premium.
Electrical inspections (e.g. detecting hotspots, partial discharges).
Industrial maintenance / predictive maintenance where overheating components can signal failure.
HVAC, mechanical inspections if moderate detail and temperature range is required.
Situations where combining acoustic imaging + thermal can give more diagnostic power.
